Electrofringe 2003 is a hands-on, all-in, new media arts festival exploring sound, video, gaming, audio visual integrations, screen, hypertext and installation.

Electrofringe 2003 is dedicated to unearthing emergent forms, highlighting nascent trends and encouraging young and developing artists' to explore technology and its creative possibilities.

Electrofringe 2003 will investigate new media arts practices that mould and morph technology to new ends - ranging from the manipulation of the retired and expired to the latest toys and tools.

Electrofringe 2003 highlights include workshops, masterclasses and forums by:
  • Jonah Brucker-Cohen (USA) a new media installation and interface artist with preoccupations in subversive networks.
     
  • Marije Baalman (Ned/Ger) a sound artist specialising in spatial audio and wavefield synthesis.
     
  • the-phone-book Limited (UK) showcasing mobile phone art you can make anytime anyplace.
     
  • Turntablist DJ Olive (USA) and Janek Schaefer (UK).
     
  • FraGGed a game art exhibition curated by Thea Bauman at the John Paynter Gallery.
     
  • Corpo[real] and [Ill]uminations two screen art exhibitions at the Newcastle Regional Art Gallery.
